October 10, 2006I am starting the research on replacing my original front and rear suspension systems with something a little more current. I would prefer something that will be a bolt on as my welding skills are lacking. I was thinking I could get a rear end off a S-10 since the two vehicles have very similar dimensions and I intend on keeping my 6 cyclinder, but could I also get the front end off that same vehicle? If not does anybody know of the "drop in" parts I should search for?

October 10, 2006There is no quick fix for your front suspension, as the only bolt on thing is a drop front axle. If you wish for independent front suspension, investigate a Mustang II style crossmember from Classic Performance Products, www.classicperform.com, No Limit Engineering.com, or another competent company. Attend some cruise nights and get to know a reputable shop that can install one and you will be happy.
October 10, 2006Maybe you can find a good s 10 chassis and install the 51 body on it.
February 21, 2007A 73 thru 87 C10 Front IFS will fit with some 1/2 spacers and with a few holes drilled in you frame it will "bolt up" check it out at http://50chevy.freeservers.com/Bolt_on_Independent_2.html
I almost went that way with my 51 3100 but ended up going with a Heidts mustang II
