April 20, 2004I was wondering if anyone has done a disc brake conversion on the front of a 56 Effie. They have the kits where they bolt on your stock spindles for about $400. I was wondering if they are good without having to change the whole suspension. Any info would be appreciated. Also if you know the best prices of getting this kit.

April 28, 2004I used one of the kits form SSBC on a 69 Camaro and it worked perfectly. Absolutely all the parts you neded were included and it was all quality parts. I drove it about 20k miles after the upgrade with no problems at all.
May 4, 2004I'll have to look through my catalogs but I thought MasterBrakes (is that right? MB? MP??) has a kit. I have the catalog somewheres cause they have a kit for my 72.....

May 9, 2004Do a search for ECI. They have kits to install disc brakes on the original straight axles. They will also sell you the basic kit which is the brackets and spacers for about $100. That will save you on shipping as you will buy the rotors and calipers locally.
March 27, 2006We did this exact install on our 56 F100 -- worked out fine and did not require suspension alteration. Have since removed in favor of IFS because strait axel went bad - old set up now for sale complete with bad axel. its 5 on 4 - 3/4 and kit is in great shape.
