August 10, 2006Hello my name is Hector. I am new at classics and now I own a 1962 chevy truck c10 fleetside shortbed. I just love it. I have some question. Does anyone know what spindles work on my truck? I was told spindles of a 1972 chevy truck would work. just bolt on off and on. Does anyone else know anything more? Also what gas tank fits under the bed? I was told an S-10 gas talk would work. Just wanted to know if anyone had any tips for me. Thank you so much.
August 11, 2006I'm not sure if it will work in the '60 -'66 trucks, but you can use a '73-'91 Blazer tank in the '73 -'87 trucks. Check out this link and you might ask Chris if it will work on yours.
There's a link to his E-mail at the bottom of the tech article
August 11, 2006Might want to take a look at Classic Performance Products on line catalog for spindle and fuel tank info.
August 15, 2006Thanks Guys. I will make sure I check both places out. You guys are awsome.
September 19, 2006Chris replied to me a while back about the gas tank that would fit. Incase anyone wanted to know the gas tank out of a Jeep CJ works. That I know as I have already bought one. Thanks for all your info again. I am also getting closer in converting it over to disc breaks. Looking for spindles to a 69 c-10.
September 19, 2006That Chris is a very knowledgable guy. I'm sure that he could point any chevy guy in the right direction no matter what problems they have.
September 20, 2006Yes he is. I asked advise on something else and he was the man to help.
September 26, 2006Anyhow I think this weekend might be the first time I take out the 62. Man it has been a long time but I am ready to drive her. I can't wait. Hopefully it all goes well and we finish what we still need to do.
October 4, 2006i have a 1960 . iam assuming you have the torsion bar fron end?
If your are on a budget you can get the front suspension (cross member and all ) from a 1973 thru 1985 chevy pick up for cheap i got mine for $50 bucks ! four out of the six mounting bolt holes lined up! parts are very cheap for these year trucks. like lowering/lifting spindles ,bushing kits, brake pads and calipers etc. plus you get rid of your torsion bars! which are hard to get parts for and if you want to put headers it can be a pain. also its all gm engineered and you can go to any auto part store for the parts unlike cpp etc. any ways just my two bits of info hope it helps....60 custom
October 5, 2006Dude Thank You So Much for that info man I sure will do that. Yes I do have the torshion Bars and I was thinking how I was going to run the headers when I get them. Thanks allot again for your info. Just called my dad and he has a truck in his back yard that he was getting ready to junk. Man am I lucky. Thanks dude you made my day.
October 9, 2006I just disconnected the front suspension from the frame of my 1960. what a pain in the butt. No way am I going to reinstall that crap. I'm going to take Custom60's advice and look for a 1985 front end.
October 10, 2006That sounds cool man. Kono gave me some good advice and I plan to do the same next. Hey I like that grill on your truck. I have a 62 but changed out the grill to a 60 like yours. Man those things are hard to find here in Texas. I had to ship it from Nevada. Peace
